Get a taste of local life! Take a journey through the culture and flavours of Rhodes on our Rhodes for Foodies: Meet the Locals food experience.
Greece is paradise for food lovers. But Greek food also plays an integral role in local culture and daily life. So one of the best ways to really get to know the country is by exploring its culinary heritage. The strategic position of our island, Rhodes, has led to a variety of invaders and colonisers throughout its history, all of which have left a unique and delicious legacy in Rhodian food.
Rhodes Experience invites you on a culinary journey through Rhodes, as we introduce you to local food producers and share the secrets of our delicious cuisine. Our Rhodes for Foodies: Meet the Locals food experience is led by an English-speaking guide (who just happens to also be a passionate foodie). Together you’ll eat your way around the island, while learning the tastes, stories and background of our cuisine.
The tour includes a visit to a village home in Salakos, where you’ll learn how to make giaprakia, the famous stuffed vine leaves of Rhodes, before tasting these and other delicacies in the garden.
You’ll visit the Bee Museum and neighbouring Melissokomiki to discover the importance of Greek honey and enjoy a tasting, and stop in a traditional village kafeneion for ouzo and meze, followed by Greek coffee and dessert.
Make sure you leave room for lunch though, as we have a treat in store! You’ll dine in one of the island’s best restaurants, Paragka in the village of Apollona, famed for its authentic food and fantastic Greek hospitality.
Our Rhodes for Foodies: Meet the Locals food experience last for approximately six to seven hours, and runs on a private basis for up to ten people. Don’t eat too much breakfast though – you’ll want to save room for all this delicious food!

She tailored the tour to our needs, as one of our family has mobility problems. We ended up at the wine tasting in the old town at Romeos, which was so good, Micheal had great knowledge of the wines we were served, all very good, we had tapas with each wine. We totally recommend this tour, it was excellent and worth every penny, a fabulous way to spend an afternoon in the wonderful old town of Rhodes.VerifiedSaj0892024-06-17Recommended! Very well preserved!’ A unique place and we had the chance to visit with the synagogue guide who takes his time to tell the history of the place and the faithful of the time! A big congratulations and a big thank you to you!!VerifiedAmyR105382023-10-03Wonderful walking tour of Old Town Jewish Quarter and My husband and I signed up for a tour of the Old Town Jewish Quarter including the synagogue and attached museum. Our guide, Mariana, was fantastic!! She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Jewish community of Rhodes and showed us things we would never have found on our own. Mariana is a mature, thoughtful person who was very easy to spend time with. In addition, she generously took us to see the Christian quarter which allowed us to learn even more about this beautifully preserved area of Rhodes. We thoroughly enjoyed our Viator tour with Mariana and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about Old Town Jewish Quarter history.Verified127pedrito2023-09-30Beautiful Very nice, wonderful, everything highly recommended, I love everything. Bravo, especially nice very very good okVerifiedClive L2023-09-28A learning experience We were gifted the wine tasting by my daughter at Christmas. Although we do drink wine we shop in Aldi, and get the same every week. So we didn’t know what to expect from a wine tasting evening. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We were fascinated by some of the methods of wine making. Especially the wine that is matured under the sea. We learned about the history of Greek wine making and how much of the technique had been lost, but is slowly being regained. My wife explained that she only drank wine with Lemonade. Our host was shocked and said they didn’t have any Lemonade on Rhodes island😀. We were surprised on how much the flavour of the wine and food changed between the different types of wine. All together a wonderful experience we thoroughly enjoyed. We would recommend this for beginners and experienced wine goers.VerifiedKathryn S2023-08-04Top wine experience The Obscura wine bar was amazing. Great experience would highly recommended.VerifiedMichael M2023-03-15A good tour guide of Rhodes and It's Jewish Community She is a wonderful tour guide. She informed us about many aspects of Rhodes which I found very interesting. I wanted to know as much as possible about the old city since my grandparents were born and lived there until moving to the US in the early 1920s. Our tour was made more cumbersome since grandchildren would have rather been at the pool at our hotel. Our guide was very patient. Overall, a wonderful experience.
