Rhodes Old Town Walking Tour — with the Jewish Quarter

Discover the secrets of the Medieval City of Rhodes! Explore the Jewish and medieval heritage of Rhodes in our exclusive Medieval Rhodes & the Jewish Quarter tour.

The Medieval City of Rhodes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known throughout the world. Less well known, however, is the Jewish Quarter that once flourished within its walls. Our exclusive half-day tour, introduces you to the fascinating Jewish heritage of Rhodes Old Town, before taking you back in time to Rhodes’ medieval history.

Medieval Rhodes & the Jewish Quarter starts with a stroll through La Juderia, the Jewish Quarter. As you wander along the narrow, winding lanes, our knowledgeable guide will tell you the history of La Juderia and the Jewish people who made Rhodes their home.

Along the way, you’ll visit notable Jewish landmarks, including Alhadeff Park and Alhadeff Street, named after a prominent Jewish family, the Square of the Martyred Jews and its seahorse fountain, and the Holocaust Memorial. You’ll also visit the Kahal Kadosh Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Greece, and the Jewish Museum of Rhodes.

Next, we’ll take a journey back in time to the medieval period. Your local tour guide will describe how the battles and sieges fought by the Knights of St. John shaped the town we see today. You’ll see medieval monuments and walk along the famous Street of the Knights, the best-preserved medieval street in Europe.

Our tour concludes at the 14th century Palace of the Grand Master, once home to the leader of the Knights of St. John of Rhodes. Today, it’s a museum housing medieval furniture, elaborate mosaics, and archaeological exhibits from Rhodes.

This exclusive Rhodes Old Town Walking Tour is for 1 to 9 people, on a private or semi-private basis. Alternatively, you may prefer to combine this with wine tasting on our Medieval Rhodes Walking and Wine Tour. There are more details below, but if you have any questions for us, please get in touch. Amazing We spent 15 days on vacation and by far this company planned the absolute best private tour. Out of season we wanted to have a wine tasting experience and they made it happen. We had a private tasting in the city in a most beautiful private villa. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and super friendly. We recommend this company. Attention to detail was excellent. I am 100% sure all their tours are excellent.

Rhodes - The Jewish Aspect We were a small group of four on this private tour with Nikos. He's a terrific guide and an archeologist as well. Nikos is very knowledgeable about the history of Rhodes and its Jewish community. We learned about the impact of the Shoah on the community and visited the synagogue and saw where the community had lived. We also visited the Grand Master's Palace which is an eclectic rebuilt palace with amazing artifacts brought there from neighboring islands.I highly recommend this tour and Nikos.Matty MonheitRaanana, Israel

You must use them when in Rhodes! We were a private group of 18. Daffy of MBC/Rhodes Experience was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and flexible as he designed a tour that met our group's unique needs. He then provide us with a great driver (Yannis) and an absolutely fantastic tour guide (Sifi). Sifi got to know our group's needs and, with great flexibility and expertise, adapted the planned itinerary to meet our needs. She has tremendous knowledge of Rhodes, its history and culture and imparted that knowledge to us in a clear and entertaining manner.

Fantastic experience We arrived on a cruise and were limited in time. Rhodes experience arranged a minibus for our group with an experienced driver (Giannis) and possibly the best tour guide (Sifi) I have ever been guided by. She adjusted to our requests and made sure we saw the highlights of Rhodes. She had a constant smile, great sense of humor and extremely knowledgeable of the area. She constantly provided new and interesting information during the entire tour. I wish we could have have spent more time with her.

Amazing - don’t miss this place! Friendly, knowledgable and amazing surroundings. If you’re in Rhodes this is a place to try, not only are the wines great but you need to try the cocktails! The only thing that would make this experience better would be an option for food however not a deal breaker as the place is surrounded by many restaurants.

You have to try it! Wow! We dis not know what to expect, but the visit was so nice. The place was like a hidden pearl, and the workers where very friendly. Our «wine-guide» let us taste wine we never would find any other places and told us about all the family secrets for each product. He also recomended wine-yards to wisit all around Greece (for next years holliday!)😍 You may think, why wine-tasting in Greece? Well, they have their own way of making wine that can not compare to Italian/french og Spanish wines. As people of «true red wine lovers», we ended up beeing true white wine lovers from Greece. Thank you guys so much for opening up a whole new world for us!
