On this Lindos and Rhodes Town tour, you will depart with a scenic drive through the modern areas of Rhodes. As you pass by the Mandraki Esplanade, you will see the government buildings, Church of Annunciation built 1925, a replica of the Old Church of the Knights of St John and the deer statues at the entrance of Mandraki port. Your driver will then continue up to Monte Smith for panoramic views and photo opportunities of Rhodes and the Aegean Sea. You will be able to see the Acropolis of Rhodes in the distance with its ancient stadium that was built in the 2nd Century BC.
After the Rhodes Town tour, you will set off to Lindos — perhaps the most beautiful village on the entire island. You will pass by several small villages before arriving to Lindos, which was one of the three ancient cities on the island of Rhodes.
Lindos is among the island’s most famous villages, and it is renowned for its famous Acropolis which stands 535 feet above sea level. The Acropolis offers breathtaking views and photo opportunities of the entire village, including its medieval castle. There is also a superb sandy beach and charming white-washed, sugar-cube houses. We must not forget that Apostle Paul also stopped at Lindos after he left Jerusalem to preach in Europe. Today, there is a small chapel dedicated to his name at St.Paul’s Bay which is a small bay next to Lindos Bay.
During your visit, you will take a walking tour through the labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, and past the colourful courtyards and mosaics for which Lindos is famous. Ancient Lindos was the most important town on the Island and has been inhabited for 5000 years. After your guided tour of the Acropolis, you will walk down to the village of Lindos to visit the Byzantine Church of the Ascension. There is so much to see ad explore on this Rhodes Town and Lindos Tour, and we can’t wait to show you more. If you have any questions about this tour, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. EXCELLENT Based on 60 reviews Posted on Kelly MVerified Tour not as expected I booked this tour because it specifically says it is a tour of the old Jewish quarter. The only Jewish things we saw were the synagogue and museum(which we arrived at just before they were closing) and the WW2 monument. The rest of the tour was of the Grand Master Palace and an extensive history of the knights. While interesting, this tour was booked solely because the title implied a tour of the ancient juderia. Maybe I misinterpreted the description, but nonetheless we were disappointed. We scheduled the tour for the mid afternoon and our guide seemed very rushed. At the end she hurried us to the synagogue to get us in before they closed and we certainly did not have ample time to explore all its artifacts and displays. All this being said, Ancient Rhodes is a great destination and I highly recommend visiting, just maybe not booking this tour.Posted on dyungingerVerified Well worth it! We booked a 1 1/2-hr tour of Rhodes’ Jewish Quarter through Viator. Our guide Mary was on time, personable, and very knowledgeable. Beyond conveying the facts of Rhodes’ Jewish history, Mary was able to effectively place that within the broader context of Greek history. We had a great experience. We’d recommend her and the tour to anyone with an interest in Jewish history.Posted on Susan WVerified Excellent tour, Excellent guide Excellent tour , Anna was our guide, she was such a lovely person, very knowledgeable and she loves Rhodes, we learned such a lot from her. She tailored the tour to our needs, as one of our family has mobility problems. We ended up at the wine tasting in the old town at Romeos, which was so good, Micheal had great knowledge of the wines we were served, all very good, we had tapas with each wine. We totally recommend this tour, it was excellent and worth every penny, a fabulous way to spend an afternoon in the wonderful old town of Rhodes.Posted on Saj089Verified Recommended! Excellent wine tasting. Food and wine pairings were spot-on. Excellent location and learned a lot about the basics of tasting. Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly Sommelier. Worth the price.Posted on FabienneVerified Magnificent synagogue Magnificent synagogue and adjoining museum!!! Very well preserved!’ A unique place and we had the chance to visit with the synagogue guide who takes his time to tell the history of the place and the faithful of the time!A big congratulations and a big thank you to you!!Posted on AmyR10538Verified Wonderful walking tour of Old Town Jewish Quarter and My husband and I signed up for a tour of the Old Town Jewish Quarter including the synagogue and attached museum. Our guide, Mariana, was fantastic!! She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Jewish community of Rhodes and showed us things we would never have found on our own. Mariana is a mature, thoughtful person who was very easy to spend time with.In addition, she generously took us to see the Christian quarter which allowed us to learn even more about this beautifully preserved area of Rhodes. We thoroughly enjoyed our Viator tour with Mariana and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about Old Town Jewish Quarter history.Posted on 127pedritoVerified Beautiful Very nice, wonderful, everything highly recommended, I love everything.Bravo, especially nice very very good okPosted on Clive LVerified A learning experience We were gifted the wine tasting by my daughter at Christmas. Although we do drink wine we shop in Aldi, and get the same every week. So we didn’t know what to expect from a wine tasting evening. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We were fascinated by some of the methods of wine making. Especially the wine that is matured under the sea. We learned about the history of Greek wine making and how much of the technique had been lost, but is slowly being regained. My wife explained that she only drank wine with Lemonade. Our host was shocked and said they didn’t have any Lemonade on Rhodes island😀.We were surprised on how much the flavour of the wine and food changed between the different types of wine. All together a wonderful experience we thoroughly enjoyed. We would recommend this for beginners and experienced wine goers.Posted on Kathryn SVerified Top wine experience The Obscura wine bar was amazing. The husband and wife owners were knowledgeable and delightful. The location is lovely. They specialize in biodynamic wines from the region. I highly recommend this experience.Posted on Erin DVerified Rhodes Food Tour - Excellent! Joanna was a truly excellent tour guide and host.
