Tour of Rhodes, Including a Jewish Heritage Tour

Experience Rhodes! Explore the main sights of Rhodes and discover its intriguing Jewish history on this unforgettable Rhodes half-day trip.

Iconic ancient monuments, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and a fascinating Jewish heritage. Our exclusive half-day tour of Rhodes takes you on a journey through Rhodes’ history, while highlighting how its geographic position led to its development as a multi-cultural and cosmopolitan centre.

This Rhodes half-day trip begins with a drive through history, as your knowledgeable tour guide explains the history and significance of its buildings and monuments.

You’ll visit Mandraki Harbour to learn about the Colossus of Rhodes and see the impressive Italianate buildings, and stop at the Acropolis of Ancient Rhodes, established in 408 BC. Here you can visit the Temple of Apollo and admire the best view of the city.

The second half of our Essential Rhodes tour focuses on the Jewish heritage of Rhodes. We begin at the Jewish Cemetery, one of the oldest in Europe, with tombstones dating from the 1500s to the present day. Then we’ll head to La Juderia, the Jewish Quarter, housed within the medieval Old Town.

Stroll through narrow, winding lanes and across Alhadeff Park, while you learn about the history of La Juderia and the story of the Jewish people who lived here.

You’ll visit prominent Jewish landmarks, including the Square of the Martyred Jews and its seahorse fountain, the Holocaust Memorial, the Jewish Museum of Rhodes, and the Kahal Kadosh Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Greece.

This exclusive Rhodes Essentials tour is for 1 to 9 people, on a private or semi-private basis. This tour of Rhodes is guaranteed to offer a deep, immersive experience, but if you’d like to couple it with a completely different activity, take a look at our Rhodes sailing trip. And if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Wonderful walking tour of Old Town Jewish Quarter and My husband and I signed up for a tour of the Old Town Jewish Quarter including the synagogue and attached museum. Our guide, Mariana, was fantastic!! She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Jewish community of Rhodes and showed us things we would never have found on our own. Mariana is a mature, thoughtful person who was very easy to spend time with. In addition, she generously took us to see the Christian quarter which allowed us to learn even more about this beautifully preserved area of Rhodes. We thoroughly enjoyed our Viator tour with Mariana and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about Old Town Jewish Quarter history.

A learning experience We were gifted the wine tasting by my daughter at Christmas. Although we do drink wine we shop in Aldi, and get the same every week. So we didn’t know what to expect from a wine tasting evening. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We were fascinated by some of the methods of wine making. Especially the wine that is matured under the sea. We learned about the history of Greek wine making and how much of the technique had been lost, but is slowly being regained. My wife explained that she only drank wine with Lemonade. Our host was shocked and said they didn’t have any Lemonade on Rhodes island😀. We were surprised on how much the flavour of the wine and food changed between the different types of wine. All together a wonderful experience we thoroughly enjoyed. We would recommend this for beginners and experienced wine goers.

A good tour guide of Rhodes and It's Jewish Community She is a wonderful tour guide. She informed us about many aspects of Rhodes which I found very interesting. I wanted to know as much as possible about the old city since my grandparents were born and lived there until moving to the US in the early 1920s. Our tour was made more cumbersome since grandchildren would have rather been at the pool at our hotel. Our guide was very patient. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Amazing We spent 15 days on vacation and by far this company planned the absolute best private tour. Out of season we wanted to have a wine tasting experience and they made it happen. We had a private tasting in the city in a most beautiful private villa. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and super friendly. We recommend this company. Attention to detail was excellent. I am 100% sure all their tours are excellent.

Rhodes - The Jewish Aspect We were a small group of four on this private tour with Nikos. He's a terrific guide and an archeologist as well. Nikos is very knowledgeable about the history of Rhodes and its Jewish community. We learned about the impact of the Shoah on the community and visited the synagogue and saw where the community had lived. We also visited the Grand Master's Palace which is an eclectic rebuilt palace with amazing artifacts brought there from neighboring islands. I highly recommend this tour and Nikos.
